Horn Park Primary School: proposal to close Nursery & change age range
Horn Park Primary School: proposal to close Nursery & change age range
You may be aware that like most London local authorities, the Royal Borough of Greenwich is experiencing falling rolls in the mainstream sector of the primary phase. This trend is predicted to continue. As a result of this, nursery numbers have fallen significantly over the last 3 years and the provision has become financially unsustainable.
The Compass Partnership of Schools and the Leadership Team of Horn Park are consulting on no-longer running the nursery and changing the School’s age range from 3 – 11 years, to 4 – 11 years. This is planned to take effect from 1st September 2025.
Closing the nursery will assist the School and Trust to provide stability in its long-term financial planning.
We have identified a potential private nursery provider who is looking to open the nursery from its current location at Horn Park. Following the consultation, should the planned closure and change of age range go ahead, we will organise a meeting to enable parents to speak to the provider directly and hear more about their offer.
This proposal is subject to approval from the Department for Education.
It is important to consider the views of our parents and the wider community. The consultation will run until Friday 16th May 2025. All stakeholders are invited to submit comments in writing about the proposal to:
